Enjoy the opportunity to witness salmon spawning, creating their redds, and darting their way around the raft as they make their way to their Yuba spawning habitat. Be amazed by the spectacular journey of wild Chinook salmon who make this once in a lifetime journey from the Pacific Ocean to the Yuba River. Learn about the Yuba River ecosystem and see how mining has impacted the region with a hike through the Yuba Gold Fields. Explore SYRCL’s work to protect and restore salmon habitat, with a visit to SYRCL’s restoration project at Hammon Bar.

“Registration is now open for 2016 Salmon Tours! This is an unforgettable opportunity for you and your family to explore the lower Yuba River and to witness spawning salmon,” says SYRCL’s River Education Manager, Heather Kallevig. “Get outdoors, enjoy the rafts and the river while learning about chinook salmon, their lifecycle, and the impact humans have on these incredibly resilient fish.”

The Salmon Raft Tours take place on the Lower Yuba River beginning at Parks Bar, just below the Highway 20 Bridge, and continue to Sycamore Ranch Park. This run is about four miles long and the tour takes approximately six hours.

To sign up for a tour, register online at yubariver.org or contact Heather Kallevig, River Education Manager (530) 265-5961, ext. 218; heather@syrcl.org to learn more.
