SYRCL is partnering with the Mountain Rain or Snow team this winter to grow the community of observers to improve the ways that we track the changes in rain, snow, and mixed precipitation during winter storms. If you have ever noticed snow falling above freezing, then you have first-hand experience as to why technologies struggle with the weather events that are in the “grey area”.
SYRCL has partnered with Nevada County and landowners to increase visitor safety in the South Yuba River canyon by developing a mile marker system and signage along the trails from the town on Washington to Bridgeport State Park.
This project will help increase wayfinding capacity for new visitors in the canyon and reduce response times for emergency services. It will also help trail users identify when they are entering public or private land so they can follow corresponding rules.
In celebration of winter, SYRCL’s Community Engagement Manager and KVMR DJ, Maddie Davis, has put together a playlist of evocative songs from both local and international artists to listen either when you are out at the river or snuggled up at home and thinking about the Yuba.
