Join us in celebrating and supporting the Yuba

With over three decades of achievements, 3,500 members, and 1,300 active volunteers, the South Yuba River Citizens League is the central hub of community activism to unite, protect, restore, and celebrate the Yuba River watershed.

Community Activism

  • Working to restore wild salmon to their native habitats
  • Holding stakeholders accountable for the health of the watershed
  • Inspiring activism across the globe with our environmental film festival

Together, we are creating and extending our powerful coalition from the Sierra to the sea.

Ways to Get Involved

Protecting the Yuba River watershed depends on the support of a thriving and engaged community. Consider joining our Emerald Circle, becoming a foundation or corporate partner, providing a legacy gift, or just supporting us when you shop.

SYRCL Volunteers are passionate about protecting our watershed. From being a River Ambassador to being a River Monitor, from helping with invasive plant removal to pitching in at events, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved.

As one of the largest grassroots river organizations in the country, SYRCL’s continued effectiveness depends on having a thriving membership base. If you love the Yuba River and want to help us fight for its future, please become a member today!

Visit the Yuba

the Yuba welcomes everyone

Thanks to its signature emerald green swimming holes and picturesque granite boulders, the South Yuba River is one of the most visited attractions in Nevada county. Each summer, the Yuba’s popularity attracts hundreds of thousands of river goers.

Of course, more visitors means more coolers, more dogs, more trash, and a greater risk of catastrophic fire. We ask that you recreate safely, practice Leave No Trace values, and remember that the Yuba welcomes everyone.
