Bring CDFW’s Classroom Aquarium Education Program (CAEP) to your classroom. This hands-on, science-based education initiative for grades K-12 allows students the unique opportunity to hatch and raise Chinook salmon and steelhead trout in their classrooms, then release fry into nearby approved water bodies.
SYRCL is the Nevada County sponsor and provides tanks and equipment to classrooms at no cost, while supplies last. SYRCL offers an optional fish release day field trip with stations for a per student fee.
To participate, teachers and partners are required to complete a CDFW training and obtain proper CDFW authorization to handle eggs and fry.
SYRCL Sponsors Nevada County schools only. If you teach in a different county, contact your specific county sponsor. Homeschools are not eligible for this program.
