Meet The Team: Michael Huth, SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour Manager
Michael was born in Southern Wisconsin and was raised playing sports and running around the area marshes and woodlands. He went to college in Milwaukee, earning his BFA in Marketing/Business Administration.
After college, he moved to Southern California to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, working as a talent agent, business affairs manager, and producer. After a few years of doing this work, he realized his true skillset was building connections between people to enhance the success of individuals, startups, and established multi-faceted companies.
Eventually, though, Michael found that his true passion was elsewhere and somewhere either up on Sierra Mountain ridgelines or down in a winding slot canyon riverbed, his priorities changed.
Bearing witness to the drastic changes happening so rapidly to his favorite locations, he decided to leave the entertainment industry and pursue environmental impact projects. Michael’s goal became bridging industries, connecting sustainable initiatives and community-focused solutions.
Michael is a certified natural builder in anything cob or earthen material related, and he is currently working on permaculture projects where he lives, helping build a 33-acre farm co-op with friends here in Grass Valley.
Every year since 2005, after the flagship Wild & Scenic Film Festival ends, our films hit the road and the On Tour program begins! On Tour enters its 20th season of bringing the inspiration of Wild & Scenic films to communities all over the country. With 110+ Wild & Scenic events a year, our programming now reaches over 30,000 people annually via partnering with land trusts, waterkeepers, schools, and other NGOs.
In 2024 WSFF helped host organizations raise over $1,00,000 for their organizations and communities!
