Improve recreational facilities by getting involved with Hydro-project re-licensing

The relicensing of hydro-projects in Yuba Watershed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) will include terms and conditions for recreational facilities – to last the next 50 years!  SYRCL Science Staff are working tirelessly to restore streamflows and salmon habitat through the relicensing process, but SYRCL can use help from volunteers to be engaged with recreational needs and opportunities.

Important Recreation Site Visits, Meetings and Agenda:

• July 18 — Site Visit to Rucker Lake, Lower Lindsey Lake, Fuller Lake, Carr Lake, Feeley Lake and Langs Crossing.  Site visit participants will meet at 8:00 AM at Sierra Discovery Trail.
• July 25 — Site Visit to Bowman Lake, Sawmill Lake, and Faucherie Lake.  Site visit participants will meet at 8:00 AM at Sierra Discovery Trail.
• August 18 — (new meeting date) – Site visit to Lake Sterling, Kidd Lake and Peak Lakes.  Site visit participants will meet at 8:30 AM at the Cisco Grove Campground store.
• August 23 — (This was scheduled to discuss Visual PM&Es and has been changed to discuss Recreation PM&Es.  See below.) – This will be a meeting from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the at the Forest Service, Nevada City. The agenda is open at this time.
• August 24 — (AM) – Site Visit to Meadow Lake.  Site visit participants will meet at 8:30 AM at Fiberboard Road (at Highway 89 junction).
• August 24 (PM) — Site Visit to Jackson Meadows Reservoir and Milton Diversion Dam Impoundment.  Site visit participants will meet at noon at Jackson Meadows Pass Creek Campground entrance.
• September 19 – This will be a meeting from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the at the Forest Service, Nevada City.  The agenda will focus on large perspective issues from the Forest Service (e.g., short- and long-term recreation vision for the area of the project’s) and big picture take away items from the recreation studies that are used to inform decisions, and key findings/agreements from the site visits.
• September 20 – This will be a meeting from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the at the Forest Service, Nevada City.  We will focus on requested changes to the YB Recreation Facilities Plan.
• September 27 – This will be a meeting from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the at the Forest Service, Nevada City.  We will focus on requested changes to the DS Recreation Facilities Plan.
