Gloves, Buckets, and a Side of Sustainability — Don’t Forget Your Fork!
Each fall, hundreds of dedicated volunteers come together for SYRCL’s Annual Yuba River Cleanup to protect and restore the watershed we all love. This year, the Cleanup will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, followed by our Volunteer Appreciation Party at Condon Park. While SYRCL will provide everything you need to participate — from gloves and buckets to cups, plates, and silverware — we’re encouraging everyone this year to take an extra step for the planet: Bring Your Own.
Why BYO Makes a Big Difference
The Cleanup isn’t just about picking up trash — it’s about modeling the kind of sustainable practices we want to see in the world. By bringing your own gloves, buckets, and reusable dining items, you help:
Reduce Waste: Disposable gloves and single-use dishware often end up in the landfill. Bringing your own cuts down on waste from the event itself.
Conserve Resources: Every time we avoid using something new, we save the energy, water, and raw materials required to produce it.
Set an Example: The Yuba River Cleanup is a community effort. Your actions inspire others to adopt similar habits in their everyday lives.
What to Bring
- Cleanup Gear: Sturdy gloves and a plastic bucket
- Party Essentials: Your own silverware, plate, and cup for the Volunteer Appreciation Party at Condon Park after the Cleanup
If you can, bring extra gloves or buckets to share with other volunteers who might not have them — another great way to build community spirit!
Don’t Worry—We’ve Got You Covered
If you can’t bring your own, no problem. SYRCL will provide gloves, buckets, cups, plates, and silverware for anyone who needs them. But if you’re able, BYO helps us align the event with our shared values of sustainability and stewardship.
Together, we’ll not only clean up the river but also reduce our footprint while celebrating this beautiful place we call home.
