Version 2Join SYRCL, November 21st, for a stunning 6.5 mile hike with Hank Meals on the Doolittle Trail.  This historic route begins on Maybert Road in the Little Town of Washington.  Spectacular views await hikers after a sustained jaunt through switchbacks. The route ascends approximately 1,600 feet from the South Yuba River to the narrow ridge separating the river and Canyon Creek.

Hank Meals  will lead participants on a fascinating journey back in time as he guides hikers past grinding rocks and historic hard rock and placer mining locations.  He will paint a picture of what the Little Town of Washington used to look like in the days of the Gold Rush.  Along the trail are vestiges of the mineral boom, now crumbled foundations of homes and  hefty retaining walls used over a century ago.

This guided hike will include educational and entertaining stories as well as scenic vistas of gorgeous South Yuba River territory.  Grab your camera and get moving with SYRCL this November.  Enjoy a bit of fresh air and the rich colors of autumn while you adventure with new friends.

This is a family friendly hike.  Space is limited to 20 participants, so sign up today!    To reserve your spot, please purchase a ticket online below.  If you have questions please contact Jenn Tamo at 530-265-5961 ext. 201 or Jenn@syrcl.org.
