What: Youth for the Yuba Celebration

 Saturday, May 7, 1pm-4pm

Where: SYRCL Office, 313 Railroad Avenue, Nevada City

SYRCL will host an exciting new event designed to celebrate the talent and artistry of youth in this community.

Join us, Saturday, May 7th from 1-4pm for an afternoon of live music performed by local youth and activities for kids of all ages.  You won’t want to miss the first ever Youth for the Yuba Celebration.  This event will showcase the skill of young people in our community, while displaying their passion for the Yuba River.

Don’t forget to bring your appetite because Lazy Dog Ice Cream and Horn of the Bull Taqueria food trucks will be serving up tasty treats all day.

View artwork from SYRCL’s multimedia #ilovetheYuba art contest award winners, and learn about the many ways young people can get involved to make a positive impact in the community.

Activities will include an envirofair where students will learn about invasive species, how to build bird nesting boxes, explore macroinvertebrates through microscopes, make salmon hats, and visit with Wildlife Rehab and Release’s education birds.  There will also be face painting, a bean bag toss, and chalk drawing.

Flo1This will truly be a community event supported by the Bear Yuba Land Trust, Eco Nevada Union, New Events Opportunties (NEO), Nevada Union Green Academy, Shady Creek Outdoor School, Sierra Business Council, The Sierra Fund, Sierra Streams Institute, SYRCL, Woolman Semester School, and Wildlife Rehab and Release.  All organizations and clubs will have a booth and be available to share information about environmentalism in the watershed!

The fair will be held at the SYRCL office at 313 Railroad Ave. in Nevada City, CA from 1pm-4pm.

We hope you can join us!
