SYRCL is recruiting for our 24th River Monitoring Season
SYRCL has recruited volunteers for the past 23 years to monitor what has grown to 37 sites across the Yuba watershed.
If you are interested in being one of our community scientist River Monitors, you will need to attend an Orientation AND mandatory Field Training. River Monitoring training is free and open to everyone! -
SYRCL Volunteers Complete the 23rd Year of River Monitoring
SYRCL’s community-science driven River Monitoring Program has finished its 23rd year of monitoring the Yuba River watershed! Each Spring, for the past 23 years, SYRCL has trained a group of amazing and dedicated river-loving volunteers to collect scientifically credible data for water quality parameters — such as water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity, and turbidity — throughout the Yuba watershed.

Creating River Stewards: Monitoring Water Quality on Public Lands
This spring, SYRCL and Tahoe National Forest (TNF) launched a pilot program to engage middle and high school students in water quality monitoring. Twenty-two 6th through 12th grade students from Downieville Jr./Sr. School participated in the program where they were trained in water quality monitoring practices, collected water quality data at Oregon Creek Day Use Area, analyzed and interpreted the data they collected with SYRCL’s comprehensive River Monitoring Data sets, and learned river etiquette to become River Ambassadors.
