River Ambassador Program

Local river communities are feeling the impact of increased visitorship on the South Yuba River. Due to COVID-19 shutdowns, many people from outside the local area are searching for a quiet place to cool off this summer and the South Yuba River has been impacted more than usual. Accidents at the river happen every day and a group of Nevada County government agencies and local nonprofits, known as the Yuba River Safety Cohort, have teamed up to keep our river community safe this summer with loaner lifejackets stations and free bandanas. Details

As summer temperatures rise so do the number of visitors to the South Yuba River. As a result, safety officials are dealing with crowded parking lots, unsafe and illegal parking, litter, and an increase in accidents. This 4th of July weekend, SYRCL asks Yuba visitors to help keep families, the river, and our river community protected by following safety and parking guidelines. Details
