SYRCL is one of the North Yuba Forest Partnership’s leading organizations for restoration planning and project management across 275,000 acres of the North Yuba River watershed. This funding enables the Partnership to conduct botany, hydrology, and cultural resources surveys. Details
This past August, our community and watershed faced a challenge we all knew was likely but hoped would never happen; the Jones Fire burned in the South Yuba River canyon, destroying 21 homes and structures. When the smoke cleared, we were left with a new landscape. Details
Nevada County’s iconic Independence Trail was severely damaged by the Jones Fire, which erupted on the morning of August 17. The fire, which burned primarily on California State Park and Bear Yuba Land Trust land, consumed all wooden structures on the western portion of the trail, including the flumes, bridges and the Rush Creek Ramp. Staff from Nevada County and the Sheriff’s Office, Bear Yuba Land Trust, SYRCL and the Sierra Gold Parks Foundation accompanied California State Parks and CAL FIRE on Wednesday, Aug. 26 to view the Jones Fire damage to the Independence Trail. Details
