WSFF On Tour in the Time of COVID-19

Despite the impacts of COVID-19 the Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour continues with numerous Live Virtual Events and Digital On-Demand Screenings through the fall.

Since the pandemic began Wild & Scenic has worked tirelessly with longtime collaborators Cinematiq to create a beautiful custom screening space to host hundreds of events around the country. These virtual events have been meeting and often outperforming the attendance, fundraising, & outreach seen at in-person events while expanding the organization’s reach to allow for attendance by audiences everywhere.

Charlotte Caldwell, Director of Donor & Community Relations for Kentucky Waterways Alliance says that “Wild & Scenic Film Festival provides an amazing opportunity for a community event every year. It is always a successful fundraising event for us, where almost half of our members renew their membership each and every year.”

Since moving the tour to the virtual platform in March, tens of thousands of viewers have tuned in to watch Wild & Scenic films presented by host organizations. Paired with dynamic emcees, filmmaker dialogues, live Q&A sessions, raffles and silent auctions, and delicious take-out menus, our hosts have brought robust and engaging experiences to their communities during these challenging times.

The urgency of the environmental movement does not slow for a pandemic and in alignment with the 2021 theme of Resilient by Nature, Wild & Scenic has continued to help raise essential funds to support the important work of our host organizations in communities across the continent.
