At SYRCL we care deeply about the education of our local youth. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our River Education staff have been working to create opportunities for parents, educators and youth to continue to stay engaged in learning while cultivating excitement for Yuba Watershed. While we won’t be able to see you in person for a while, we hope the following activities can keep your kids sharp, while simultaneously lessening the burden on parents and educators alike during this time.
If you’re looking for hands-on and video educational content appropriate for both indoors and outdoors settings, look no further. Our Environmental Education at Home resource page has links to lessons from SYRCL and other environmental organizations geared towards K-5 students, but applicable to students of all ages.
Wanting a more artistic approach to teaching the environment? SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival is calling for art from students in grades 6-12 from Nevada and Yuba Counties with photography, two-dimensional pieces, or three-dimensional pieces that inspire environmental activism or a love for nature. Pieces can be submitted via the portal on Wild & Scenic’s website.
