From now until September 30 (this current quarter) if you refer a friend or neighbor and they go solar with California Solar, not only will you receive a $250 referral reward, Cal Solar will donate $150 to SYRCL

Cal Solar has long been a supporter of SYRCL, sponsoring financially and sending a crew to participate in our annual Yuba River Cleanup, sponsoring our Wild & Scenic Film Festival, and, most recently, donating the installation of solar panels and system on the roof of SYRCL’s offices on Railroad Ave in Nevada City.

The office building houses SYRCL’s 20 full-time staff members and is the headquarters for Wild & Scenic Film Festival, the largest environmental film festival in the U.S. Upstairs, nonprofit Sierra Harvest works its magic supporting a thriving local food system by providing healthy food education for families, building gardens, and connecting local farms to schools, hospitals, and more.

Lars Örtegren Worker-Owner, Co-Founder, and Director of Construction Services at Cal Solar, considers the Yuba River to be the crown jewel of Nevada County and says it was the river that first attracted him to move to the area. He hopes the California Solar donation will inspire others to action.

“As a small community business, and as a worker co-op, we see business as a force of good in the local community. This isn’t something that is unique to us as most locally owned businesses are lifelines to our local non-profits. Small businesses support families, who spend their money locally. That being said, as a mission driven business, and as a certified B-corporation, we measure our success through the triple bottom line, taking into account profits, our staff and the community.”

As the effects of climate change have more and more of a profound effect on our lives and on the Yuba Watershed, every little action we can take to reduce our emission of carbon can add up. While ultimately it is the responsibility of the biggest polluters to step up to the table and stop forcing the cleanup on consumers, we can all still do our part. Going solar and helping SYRCL are concrete positive actions you can take in the face of a changing environment.

Spread the word, make a difference, and earn referral rewards. Together, let’s create a greener future!
