On March 7, SYRCL’s Interim Executive Director and Watershed Science Director Aaron Zettler-Mann and SYRCL’s Policy Director Gianna Setoudeh headed to the California State Capitol in Sacramento as part of the California Coastkeeper Alliance Advocacy Day.

During the day, we met with our state representatives to talk about SYRCL’s work, inquire about the legislative priorities of SYRCL’s state representatives and identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership.

We took the opportunity to highlight the uniqueness of SYRCL’s work – where we started, how our work has expanded overtime, and what we are focused on now in the current landscape and climate.

We also learned about our representative’s priorities and that we have many like-minded goals, particularly on issues such as forest health and fire prevention.

Finally, we talked about future project site tours and look forward to the opportunity to showcase the on the ground impact of our work in the Yuba River watershed.

SYRCL would like to thank Assemblymember Megan Dahle, Senator Brian Dahle, and the office of Assemblymember James Gallagher for taking learn more about SYRCL and our work in their districts. We look forward to future opportunities for partnership.
