The 29th Annual Yuba River Cleanup is quickly approaching, and word at the river is that it is very much needed.

What our staff and volunteers have witnessed at the Yuba this summer has been disheartening.
Food containers, cups, clothing, float tubes, toys, plastic bottles, and even dirty diapers are being left behind at the river each weekend. Even those who do pick up after themselves still find overflowing trash cans.

With another river season of nearly a million visitors, the Yuba River watershed is feeling the impacts of high visitation paired with careless waste disposal. What gets left behind directly affects our water quality, wildlife, and the natural beauty that makes the Yuba so special.

While the problem of litter can’t be solved in one day, the 29th Annual Yuba River Cleanup on September 19th will help ensure the trash left during this river season won’t continue to cause harm.

With your support, we can identify the river sites that need the most attention and ensure we have enough volunteers to get the job done on Cleanup day. SYRCL’s Yuba River Cleanup is one of the largest river cleanups in the state, covering 30+ cleanup sites across 80 miles of watershed and over 500 volunteers. This is a tremendous effort with many moving parts.
