Weekend3The 2015 Wild & Scenic Film Festival took place January 15-19 in historic Downtown Nevada City and Grass Valley, California.  This five day affair attracted films and folks from around the world.  It raised funds, supported local businesses in a traditionally slow time of year and, most importantly, raised awareness and inspired activism for environmental causes and SYRCL’s campaigns.

General consensus of feedback indicated that the 2015 festival was one of the best yet.

Weekend4It was an extraordinary experience, I enjoyed every minute of it, and I can’t tell you how grateful I am. From what I saw, it was flawlessly organized, superbly put together, and came off beautifully.

Weekend2First off, great job on the festival!  I was so impressed with your team, the volunteers, the professional manner in which things were organized and executed, the films themselves, the range of activities, the convenience of everything…it was a wonderful experience and I look forward to attending for many years to come.  And now that I’m an official SYRCL member, the possibility for continued support is even greater.

Weekend1Thank you so much for the wonderful, battery-charging festival. We were humbled and honored to receive a Yubie.  There were so many inspiring, engaging, and inspiring films. I look forward to attending next year.

Weekend5Thank you so much for the wonderful film festival! Wild and Scenic was a great experience, really fine volunteers and the town was so much fun to be in. We had a packed screening at the Vet’s Hall for Tricky Bidness on Saturday morning, lots of positive response to the movie. The projection and sound were the best of any of the ten festivals we have participated in. Really, a very spectacular event, you both are to be commended. We had 11 “Trickies” come to the screening, everybody fell in love with Wild and Scenic!
-JoAnn Schuch, Tricky Bidness—Filmmaker

Approximately 5,000 individuals attended the main Wild & Scenic Film Festival activities throughout the five days.  In addition, approximately 1,444 youth attended the Wednesday and Thursday school programs at the Del Oro Theater totaling the number of Wild & Scenic attendees to as many as 6,400 people!

More than 600 folks volunteered their time and energy to make the festival a reality.  Time commitments varied from a 4 hour shift to upwards of 80 hours between pre-fest activities and the weekend of activities.  The community really rallied and supported this beloved event.
