Miriam, you know her as the heart of SYRCL, and she always has a smile and a batch of her famous pumpkin cookies to share!

After 17 years as a star SYRCL volunteer followed by the past 7 ½ years of service as a full-time member of the SYRCL staff, Miriam Limov, River People Manager, will be leaving to pursue a  new career in the catering business with Emily’s Catering & Cakes as well as expand her new cookie company, Rainbow’s End. She will be leaving at the end of June before starting a month-long backpacking trip.

“Working with SYRCL has been an outstanding way to spend almost half of my life so far. It’s been an honor to work alongside hundreds of remarkable volunteers as we diligently and fiercely helped to protect the river and the watershed through events, advocacy, programs and more,” states Miriam. “I may be leaving the SYRCL staff, however, I plan on continuing as a volunteer supporting SYRCL’s efforts and will bring Rainbow’s End cookies by the office often – so it’s not goodbye at all!”

Founding Board Member Roger Hicks spoke for the entire board and staff in thanking Miriam for over two decades of service to the Yuba: “Thank you so much for everything you have done for SYRCL and the Yuba over the years.  You have given so much, and in so many different ways.   You are the person that hundreds and hundreds of people know best at SYRCL, and for many, you are why or how they became involved.  SYRCL would not be where it is today without all of your amazing efforts and warm presence.  You will be missed.”

SYRCL seeks new River People Manager

“The goal of SYRCL’s River People program is to unite the community for effective advocacy on behalf of the Yuba watershed,” said SYRCL Executive Director Caleb Dardick.  “Miriam leaves big shoes to fill but we are looking for someone with a similar passion for the Yuba and love for our River People community.”

The River People Manager is a senior position at SYRCL and is responsible for volunteer coordination, major event production, community outreach, communications and grassroots advocacy.  Candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in volunteer programs, large-scale events production, and community engagement programs.  This position will supervise two or more staff and 1,000 active volunteers.
