Ensuring River Safety: The Role of SYRCL’s River Ambassadors
Clad in beige vests and stationed under pop-up tents, SYRCL’s River Ambassador volunteers are on hand during River Season to provide visitors with trash bags, doggie bags, and valuable advice on safety and hiking trails. Their presence is not just about cleaning up; it’s about stressing river safety and fostering a culture of respect and responsibility towards the environment.

2024 Wild For the Yuba
Join the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) for Wild for the Yuba – a special Dinner & Auction – on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 6:00-9:30 pm at the beautiful grounds of the Schrammsberg Estate in Nevada City, CA. The event features music, great food, and an array of fabulous auction items donated by local businesses, artists, and others in support of the Yuba.

National Volunteer Month 2024 Paves the Way for SYRCL’s River Ambassador Season
April is National Volunteer Month, and the third week of April is National Volunteer Week. This entire month, and this week especially, is a time to celebrate the outstanding individuals who freely offer their time and talents to give back to their communities. SYRCL has no shortage of these dedicated, multi-faceted, passionate individuals.
SYRCL has an upcoming opportunity to reignite your passion for volunteerism within your own life and community: our River Ambassador Program. The program runs from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. -
SYRCL’s Quiz Night was a Rollicking Success
Due to the pandemic, SYRCL hasn’t been able to have an in-person Quiz Night since 2019. In the interim, we re-imagined the event to meet current in-person event dynamics. This year, Quiz Night was held on 3/12/24 at Gold Vibe Kombuchary from 6-9 pm.
Participants tested their knowledge of all sorts of esoteric and pop culture information, from geography to history to cinema to music to sports to the Yuba River watershed. Emcee Maddie Davis, SYRCL’s Community Engagement Manager, did an amazing job of keeping participants on task, engaged, and focused on fun.
Twenty-one teams competed during the event. At the end there had to be a tiebreaker between two teams, Three Drink Funny and the Hot Saws. Three Drink Funny was the eventual winner.
