Nevada County Supervisors Denounce Closure of Our State Parks

Share with Your People

Last Tuesday, Nevada County Supervisors unanimously approved a letter to Governor Brown objecting to the proposed closure of our two state park units, Malakoff Diggins and South Yuba River.

The Supervisors noted that these park units, due to their size and access, cannot be “closed” in any real sense.  Further, the Supervisors point out that, without rangers, these lands could, “fall victim to vandalism… illegal campfires, and trash dumping; and pose a threat to the public from crime, personal injuries and catastrophic wildfire.”

Our Supervisors are to be commended for such a powerful show of support for our parks.
