Idaho-Maryland Mine Planning Commission Public Hearing

Time: to
Location: Eric Rood Administration Center Board of Supervisor Chambers

SYRCL’s petition urging the Nevada County Board of Supervisors to “SAY NO” to the proposed Idaho-Maryland Mine project has over 1,100 signatures from individuals across the community and beyond, expressing opposition to the project.

Now we need your continued support at upcoming Planning Commission meetings!

The Nevada County Planning Department has just scheduled the Planning Commission Public Hearing for the proposed Idaho-Maryland Mine project on May 10. The Public Hearing will continue on May 11, as needed.

We are putting out a call to all individuals who oppose the Idaho-Maryland Mine to join us at the Planning Commission Meeting in person on Wednesday, May 10 and make your position on the Idaho-Maryland Mine heard. This is one of our last significant opportunities to publicly display community opposition to the project before it comes before the Board of Supervisors and a final decision on the project is made.

If you can’t attend the full day on May 10, consider attending the morning or afternoon session: 9:30 – 12:30 or 12:30 to 5:00. Consider blocking out May 11, as well.

Why is the Planning Commission meeting important?

The Planning Commission is charged with making two recommendations to the Board of Supervisors: 1) whether the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) should be certified, based on whether the analysis in the FEIR is complete and adequate and 2) whether to approve the project. The Board of Supervisors will then consider the Commission’s recommendation when they meet to take the final vote at a subsequent meeting. Your comments and participation are a critical part of this public process.

The Planning Department will issue a formal Notice of Public Hearing for the Planning Commission Public Hearing in mid-April. Interested residents are encouraged to subscribe for updates on the project’s planning process at, including subscribing for notifications on how to submit a public comment for the upcoming May 10th Planning Commission Public Hearing.
