Volunteering

At the heart of SYRCL is the family of volunteers who give countless hours to the river and organization. Volunteering at SYRCL is a great opportunity to give back and assist SYRCL staff, as well as meet new people, acquire new skills, and enjoy a variety of perks (event tickets, etc). Below is a partial list of volunteering opportunities.

Please complete the volunteer application. Miriam will reply to you within a week to figure out the best placement for YOUR skills and interest in helping SYRCL.

Contact Miriam Limov, RiverPeople Coordinator for more information: miriam@syrcl.org, (530)265-5961 ext 201.

In the Office

Assist SYRCL staff with mailings, data entry, garden upkeep, research, film library, events and special projects. We love to have volunteers every afternoon! The River Monitoring program also needs support with simple tasks  such as bottle washing, meter checking, volunteer hour entry and more.

River Monitoring

Do you love the Yuba and would like to be outdoors on a monthly basis to relay water quality information to SYRCL? We will give you all the tools to collect accredited scientific data. REQUIRED TRAINING TO PARTICIPATE!! Since 2000, SYRCL has been sending out 80-100 volunteers monthly to conduct water quality testing to over 40 sites throughout the Yuba Watershed. Please contact our Americorps Member for 2012, Eric Rubenstahl at eric@syrcl.org or 265-5961 ext. 213 for more information or to become a river monitor. Trainings will occur in late April.

At Events

SYRCL promotes its mission by a collective of community awareness and education events, watershed stewardship opportunities, and membership fundraising events which all help to protect the Yuba River and the Greater Yuba River watershed! We’d love for you to get involved by attending or volunteering. Go to the calendar of events in the website to get updated information about each event.
