That’s a Wrap for Wild & Scenic!

The 18th Annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival has wrapped up and we are still feeling the vibe!

What an incredibly inspiring five day festival, full of amazing humans celebrating captivating stories and calls-to-action from around the globe. From the art reception and 3D films kicking-off the festival on Thursday, to the films, workshops and coffee talks throughout the weekend, and finishing with Monday night’s Award-Winning Film screenings…this year’s Wild & Scenic was one for the books. Now after a little rest, it’s time to kick-off our 2020 Wild & Scenic On Tour program and start planning for 2021!

2020 Wild & Scenic Film Festival Award Winners

This year’s award-winning films were chosen from a field of over 140 films by a dedicated team of jurists. Wild & Scenic is proud to present this year’s “Yuby Awards” to the following films:

Best of Festival – Honeyland
Best in Theme – Take Back the Harbor
Spirit of Activism – Mossville: When Great Trees Fall
Most Inspiring Adventure Film – The River and the Wall
Best Short – Where Life Begins
Jury Awards – Sea of Shadows AND Artifishal
Student Filmmaker Award – Chema Domenech, A Walk Through The Land of 1,000 Hills
John de Graaf Environmental Filmmaking Award – Deia Schlosberg
Honorable Mentions – Maxima, The Condor & the Eagle, Tigerland
Kids Jury, Best Children’s Film – Wild Toddler Chronicles: Legacy
Kids Jury, Honorable Mention – Daniel: A Cyclist With TBI Making a Difference
Peoples Choice Award – The Sacramento, At Current Speed

Did you know? Most of the films featured throughout the 18 years at the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, including several of the award winners, are available for active SYRCL members to borrow. 

The library becomes available in late February. The list of films will be announced along with the release of the DVDs in the coming weeks.
