August 11: cannabis BMP workshop series hosts Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board

On August 11, Trey Sherrell, Environmental Scientist with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) will visit Nevada City and join SYRCL, Emerald Growers Association (EGA), and Americans for Safe Access – Nevada County (ASA-Nevada County) to discuss future regulations as part of the Conditional Waiver for Medicinal Cannabis Cultivation. The State Water Board along with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife are in the process of promulgating a conditional waiver of waste discharge requirements (permits) in both North Coast and Central Valley Regions. Nevada County is in the Central Valley Region. Mr. Sherrell is looking for input from our community on this waiver, please join us for this important discussion!

After this discussion, Hezekiah Allen, Executive Director of the Emerald Growers Association, will speak about the proper storage and disposal of chemicals and nutrients to protect our watershed from potential pollutants.
