Join Our Tree-Planting Team This November

Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and make a difference for the Yuba River? We’re nearing the final stages of this year’s construction on our restoration project at Rose Bar (to learn more about the project, click here), and we’re looking for able-bodied, enthusiastic volunteers who can help us transform steep slopes with the planting of almost 500 trees. If you’re up for the challenge, we want you on our team!

Why Your Help Is Vital:

This project is all about improving nearby spawning habitat for salmon and steelhead trout and stabilizing the eroding banks of historic mining tailings. Your help planting these slopes will increase their stability protecting Yuba River water quality. Plus, growing trees sequester carbon.

Volunteer Requirements:

Physical Requirement: You should be capable of lifting up to 30 pounds, expect to tackle challenging heights and cover significant distances (likely about 3 miles, cumulatively), and be prepared to navigate uneven terrain on rocky surfaces. 

Vehicle Requirement: The parking lot can accommodate about 15 vehicles – and high clearance vehicles are suggested. If you’re unable to arrange transportation to the site, SYRCL may be able to coordinate a carpool.

NOTE: This will not be easy work, and volunteers should be prepared to hike and stand on a rather steep slope, as well as be able to lift 30 pounds or so and be comfortable digging holes.
