DESCRIPTION:The Nevada County RCD will be holding an RX 101 workshop a
 t the North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center on March 9th. All are

 1 WORKSHOPS – Nevada County On Saturday\, March 9th  from 9:00 am â
 €“ 2:00 pm at 17894 Tyler Foote Rd\, Nevada City\, 95959 Nevada RCD will
  be hosting a Free Prescribed Fire 101 Workshop. Join us for a 2-day co
 urse for an Introduction and overview of prescribed fire basics.  Lead 
 by Joaquin Pastrana\, Nevada County RCD Prescribed Fire Program Manager 
 and Jo Ann Fites-Kaufman\, certified California Burn Boss\, retired US F
 orest Service wildland and prescribed fire scientist and practitioner. 
 Introduction to prescribed fire for residents and private landowners. Le
 arn about what prescribed burning is and the role of fire historically v
 s now in shaping our forest and landscape vegetation and wildland fire. 
 Gain knowledge of the use of prescribed fire as a tool to benefit fire s
 afety\, native plants and animal habitat\, and forest health. Learn abou
 t the basics of planning and conducting a prescribed burn safely and res
 ponsibly\, including permitting and smoke management. Display of native 
 plants adaptations to fire. This workshop is paired with opportunities t
 o participate in demonstration burns as weather and burning conditions a
