SUMMARY:Meadow Volunteer Work Day -- 10/4/25
DESCRIPTION:Since 2023 SYRCL has been working to restore Freeman Meadow 
 under the Haskell Peak Meadows Restoration Project. Come along to walk t
 he site with SYRCL’s Project Manager and learn all about the work done
  so far. \n\n\n\nThis year Freeman received its third year of Beaver Dam
  Analogs (BDAs). Now that we have re-wetted portions of the site it is t
 ime to revegetate them with woven bundles of willow sticks called Willow
  Fascines.\n\n\n\nSound interesting? Join us in building them!!\n\n\n\n\
 nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\nVOLUNTEER ROLE\n\n\n\nVolunteers can expect to s
 pend the day (10 am to 2:30 pm) trimming willow\, bundling branches\, an
 d staking them into place.\n\n\n\nWork gloves will be provided. \n\n\n\n
 Bring along: water\, hiking boots\, lunch\, snacks\, sunscreen\, sunhat\
 , warm layers\, sunglasses\, and anything else that will make you feel c
 omfortable working at high elevation on an October day. \n\n\n\nThe weat
 her may be variable. In the event of high elevation thunderstorms in the
  area\, we will stop work for the day.\n\n\n\nOptional items to bring: i
 nclude a camera\, binoculars\, and field guides\, as Freeman Meadow is a
  habitat for many birds\, shrubs\, meadow vegetation\, and wildlife. \n\
 n\n\nWith many hands\, we can make this light work.\n\n\n\nLOCATION\n\n\
 n\nFreeman Meadow is located about an hour and 45 minutes from Nevada Ci
 ty\, within the Tahoe National Forest off of Gold Lakes Highway. A high 
 clearance vehicle is recommended but we can figure out carpooling for fo
 lks in need. \n\n\n\nVolunteers will meet at Bassetts Station at 10 am o
 n Saturday Morning October 4th. Detailed driving directions will be prov
 ided to volunteers who sign up.\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE
