Earth Week Backyard BioBlitz

April 22 @ 2:00 am - April 25 @ 12:00 pm

FREE
So, you’ve seen an event calling for people to go outside and participate in a BioBlitz. Cool, sounds like fun! Wait… What even is a BioBlitz?
BioBlitz: an intense biological survey occurring with particular time and area constraints with the goal of identifying all possible species that may exist in the given area.
BioBlitzes are powerful citizen science tools that can add a wealth of knowledge to what we already know about our ecosystems. By using a large group of people to record observations, more data can be collected at once than would be during a traditional biological survey. Scientists can then use this data to learn more about the species in the area surveyed, such as the abundance of a certain animal, or how many invasive species are present.
Join the BioBlitz, in your own backyard during Earth Week, Thursday, April 22 – Sunday, April 25.
