During this holiday season, SYRCL is asking for donations to help us educate the next generation of river stewards – the future voices of the watershed who are learning to protect this place we love.
A generous donor will match your gift, doubling your impact to help SYRCL build a resilient, vibrant, and healthy watershed now and ensure the next generation can carry on this legacy.
We are reaching more students who are growing up in our watershed each year. This October and November we brought back close to 1,200 students to the lower Yuba for the first time since 2019, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
They rafted the lower Yuba with our education team to see threatened Chinook salmon spawn and learned how SYRCL is working to reverse the devastating history the Gold Rush had on our river and its wildlife.
We can reach thousands more students with your donation to our Year-end Match Campaign.
Your gift will also help us continue:
- Strengthening our River Monitoring program so it can deal with wildfire impacts, like fire retardant testing and run-off monitoring.
- Restoring fish and wildlife habitat in the lower Yuba’s barren goldfields – and keeping a spotlight on how vulnerable Yuba salmon are.
- Healing our headwater meadows by restoring their ability to naturally capture groundwater.
- Bringing River Ambassadors to our high visitation river crossings in the summer to promote public safety and pack-it-in, pack-it-out ethics.
Will you join us today to make a difference for our on-the-ground efforts to protect the Yuba now and into the future? Your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar and go twice as far.
