Volunteer Spotlight: Sasha Benson

Sasha has already volunteered for several weekend days—including the 4^th of July—to help keep the Yuba clean and safe for all! SYRCL: Sasha, tell us a bit about yourself and your love for the Yuba.

Sasha: My name is Sasha I’m 17 and I’m a senior at Nevada Union this year. I love the farmer’s market, figs (particularly those I get from the farmer’s market), reading and of course going to the river. There is something about the river that is so wonderful and special it’s just indescribable.

SYRCL: What motivated you to take the time to be a part of SYRCL?

Sasha: I love the river and I wanted to do something to take care of it and becoming a volunteer river ambassador seemed like a great way to do that.

SYRCL: What is your favorite river activity and favorite river spot?

Sasha:I love reading at the river and of course cooling off in the water. I love all the river spots, it’s hard to chose just one but there are a few spots above Purdon that I have been favoring a bit this summer.

SYRCL: What would you say to someone about the importance and advantages of being a SYRCL volunteer?

Sasha: If you love the river and want to protect it SYRCL provides a great avenue to get involved.

SYRCL: If you had one wish for the Yuba, what would it be?

Sasha:I wish that everyone would care about the Yuba as much as I do or more :).
