Over 300 dedicated SYRCL supporters gathered together last Saturday to celebrate the Yuba at our 5th Annual Wild for the Yuba celebration. Nine wineries, six breweries, two food vendors, 138 silent auction items, 12 live auction items and one random rainstorm all added up to four awesome hours of fun!

Just as the seven piece band, Mojo Green, started playing, we were blessed with a short but heavy downpour to cool everyone on what proved to be a beautiful summer evening. After the shower the party took off with an exciting live auction, great beer and wine tastings and dancing into the night.

“Thank you local businesses, individuals and volunteers who generously donated to our auction this year,” said event organizer Stephanie Romanella. “It is because of you that we are able to offer attendees such an impressive array of items, services and experiences to bid on. All proceeds raised at Wild for the Yuba go back to fund SYRCL’s year round programs and we are truly thankful to this amazing community for participating with us in preserving and protecting the Yuba River!” The community’s generous support of SYRCL over the past 32 years has allowed the organization to be a leader in the watershed and stay nimble to react to threats as needed. Uniting the community to protect and restore a watershed is the work of generations and SYRCL would not exist without the continued support of its members and donors.

We never could have put on such a great party without the dozens of fantastic volunteers who came out on Saturday to help as well. “SYRCL volunteers help with every aspect of an event like this. From posting flyers weeks in advance to draw the crowd to cleaning up hours after the fun is over, SYRCL volunteers make it happen,” said Jenn Tamo, River People Manager. Volunteers with a number of skills and interests are needed throughout SYRCL’s work. With great opportunities this summer from restoring mountain meadows to educating river visitors about stewardship through the River Ambassador program there is a place for everyone at SYRCL.
