The Wild & Scenic Film Festival, in collaboration with Nevada County Arts, is inviting all local and regional artists to submit their environmental artwork for possible inclusion at the 2015 Wild & Scenic Film Festival in Nevada City.

The film festival theme is “A Wild Life.” Artists are encouraged to submit pieces that address this theme head on, particularly as it relates to nature and human interaction with our environment. The final deadline to apply is November 1. Entries can be submitted via the Nevada County Arts website. The entry fee ranges from $5-45 per entry.

“We are seeking environmental work that delivers a meaningful message,” said Brian Buckley, of Nevada County Arts. “There are a host of talented artists passionate about the environment, and we are excited to give them an opportunity to showcase their very best.”

Selected artists will have the opportunity to showcase their work in front of environmental filmmakers, celebrities, social activists and more than 4,500 festival attendees. More than 40 businesses, galleries, wineries and cafes in Nevada City and Grass Valley have signed-on as display partners for the event.

Artists selected to be featured at the Wild & Scenic Film Festival will compete for $1,000 in prizes in the following award categories: 3D, 2D, photography, best interpretation of the theme and best emerging artist.

“The featured artwork enhances the entire film festival experience,” said Melinda Booth, Film Festival Director. “We’re excited to see differing interpretation of our theme manifest in creative works of art displayed throughout Nevada City and Grass Valley.”
