Climate Change and Mountain Meadows

SYRCL is a member of the Sierra Meadows Research and Restoration Partnership (SMRRP) which brings together experts in the field of greenhouse gas sequestration, meadow ecology, and restoration to provide data from across the Sierras on meadow restoration benefits by comparing pre-restoration and post-restoration conditions for carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane production. This data will help California determine how much carbon is being sequestered in mountain meadows.

This research is funded through a California Department of Fish and Wildlife Grant with matching grants from Earthwatch and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
