Laura Wilcox Scholarship Applications Due Jan. 11

The scholarship is offered annually to graduating Nevada Union High School seniors that have demonstrated a commitment to the environment and to Laura’s values. To date, fifteen $4000 scholarships have been awarded to local students. Laura’s legacy continues, as each year we identify young river stewards and recognize their dedication. Read more >>

SYRCL Sends 700 Participants Down the Yuba

Twelve high school students, split between two rafts, hoot and holler as they pass over the rapids below the Highway 20 bridge. They spend the day navigating the unique, rocky landscape and beautiful clear waters of the Lower Yuba River. Read more >>

The Return of Journey of the Salmonid

Beginning every Fall, Yuba River lovers celebrate the start of a very special season. If you journey to the waters’ edge in the Lower Yuba River, you’ll witness splashing tails, the cleaning of redds, and the end of a great journey from the ocean to source. SYRCL Partners with NUHS to Remove Scotch Broom

If you’ve walked a trail in the Yuba Watershed it is likely you’ve passed by a common invasive species known as Scotch Broom. This plant, recognizable by its tall, bushy branches, resembles the end of a witch’s broom.
