In the words of Kurt Lorenz, long-time SYRCL volunteer who helped remove nearly 1,000 pounds of garbage from the South Yuba Primitive Campground after a 3-mile hike Saturday, “This is why we do it.” We plan and coordinate, we fundraise and educate, we collaborate and volunteer to maintain a beautiful river, to protect water quality and to safeguard habitat for the wildlife that call our rivers and creeks home.

Filled one 40-yard dumpster on Donner Summit.
Filled four 40-yard dumpsters in Marysville.
Removed over 10,000 pounds of garbage from Deer and Wolf Creeks, and the Yuba and Bear Rivers, in addition to Donner Summit and Marysville*.
Removed English ivy, vinca, Himalayan blackberry and Scotch broom from 4 restoration sites

2016 Cleanup Photos

There’s always lots to do at Bridgeport, our most popular Cleanup site. Enthusiastic teams of volunteers from South Yuba River Parks Association, Floracopeia, Nevada City School of the Arts, California Growers and Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains worked together to remove a summer’s worth of debris.
