“Not only is Pam a fantastic volunteer and member, she’s been an integral part of our fundraising team. She’s helped us hold membership events to attract critical funds for our education and outreach programs—and she is an enthusiastic speaker about SYRCL’s work and mission. She’s a wonderful ambassador for the organization, and I am so honored to be working with her.” — Julie Pokrandt, Development Director
SYRCL: Pamela, tell us a bit about yourself and your love for the Yuba.
Pamela: Our family’s love of the river is what inspired our move here from Santa Cruz 20 years ago. I am a Realtor with Coldwell Banker and love the opportunity to work with friends & clients to find their special place in our community. And I am happy and proud to say the newest addition to our family, our granddaughter Melina became the youngest SYRCL member last fall!
SYRCL: What is your involvement with SYRCL, and why do you take the time to give to this organization?
Pamela: My entire family has been SYRCL volunteers since we came to the area, it is part of our family traditions to work at the film festival. We support SYRCL because SYRCL supports what is most dear to our family…the Yuba!!
SYRCL: What are your favorite river activities and favorite river spot?
Pamela: I have favorite spots on each of the forks…too many to mention! Just BEING there is my favorite!
SYRCL: What would you say to someone about the importance and advantages of being a SYRCL member?
Pamela: Our precious YUBA is the Heart & Soul of this area, every effort needs to be taken to protect her and through that effort we are also creating awareness for other important environmental issues. I am VERY proud of the work that is being done in the schools so that the awareness can start at a young age and kids grow up here with the sense of protection of our YUBA. I LOVE being an EMERALD CIRCLE member and knowing what we can do financially to protect the river also comes with some fun perks that put us in touch with other like-minded folks!
SYRCL: If you had one wish for the Yuba, what would it be?
Pamela: For all forks of its waters to be allowed to FLOW FREELY and to see Salmon up on the North Fork….
Thanks to Pamela for all she does for SYRCL and the Yuba!
