Last week, the Nevada County Board of Supervisors proclaimed September 21, 2013 as “South Yuba River Citizens League’s 16th Annual Yuba River Cleanup Day.”  The Board presented SYRCL executive director Caleb Dardick with a certificate supporting the clean-up effort. In a memo to County employees, County Executive Officer Rick Haffey wrote: “SYRCL was unanimously praised by the Board, with Terry Lamphier saying, ‘I’ve been going to the river since ’85 and I’ve seen a big difference in the work SYRCL has done.’  Board Chairman Hank Weston also praised SYRCL, and said ‘I look at the Yuba river as like the aorta of the County.  It’s the lifeblood that keeps pumping.’  Mr. Dardick and the Board highlighted the cooperation that has occurred between the County and SYRCL on many issues, which includes work with State Parks, Bridgeport, Malakoff Diggins, and the use of SYRCL river ambassadors to inform river-goers of parking and other issues at Purdon and Edwards Crossing.”
