10th Annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival Update
The 10th Annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival is shaping up to be our largest & most ambitious festival to date. To celebrate our 10th Anniversary and the spirit of activism embodied in Wild & Scenic, our theme for this year is A Decade of Inspiring Activism. We will feature films highlighting the people and actions that are creating radical change all over the world.
From the simple act of freeing a humpback whale caught in a drift net portrayed in Saving Valentina; to the story of a woman who takes on big business, politicians, and public skepticism to save a dying river told in The Work of 1000; to the Queens in the Miss South Pacific Beauty Pageant who implore us to turn back the tide of climate change before it’s too late to save their island homes from the rapidly rising ocean shown in Miss South Pacific: Beauty & the Sea; these films share the optimism, courage, wisdom, hope & gumption it takes to create a healthier, happier, and more just world.
Taken together these films are a call to action, a source of inspiration, and an incredible testament to the fact that all of us really are in this together.
As always we will also be joined by dozens of activists, scientists, authors and filmmakers who, in their talks and activist workshops, take the content of the films to an even deeper level.
The weekend will be filled with live music, breathtaking art from local and visiting artists, opportunities for action on the issues you care about, inspiring people, just the right amount of glitz (it is a Film Festival, after all), and of course over 100 films.
