Mark your calendars for September 17, 2011, for the 14th Annual Greater Yuba River Clean-Up and Restoration Day. Volunteer at one of SYRCL’s 35 clean-up sites and build camaraderie with your friends, family and neighbors as you walk

through and by the river cleaning up trash, or helping to restore meadows and trails. After the morning clean-up, join us at Bridgeport Crossing, in the South Yuba River State Park for a free celebration honoring YOU and other volunteers from noon – 3:30 pm with a free barbeque lunch, Haute Trash fashion show and – new this year- the first annual Rock Skipping Competition open to all ages. Will you be tossing a Plink, a Pitty-Pat, a Plonk, Skronker, or an Agnew? Registration for your favorite clean-up sites and for the Rock Skipping Competition begins August 20th. SYRCL is hosting this event in conjunction with the 3rd Annual Great Sierra River Clean-Up, supported by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy. For more information about the event, click here.

This tournament conforms to the M.I.S.S.&G.C.* rules and regulations.

*Definitions approved by the Mackinac Island Stone Skipping & Gerplunking Club:

Plink – A clean cut skip, usually at the head of a run; heavy water shows between hops.
Pitty-Pat – Short skips at the end of a run with light water showing between skips.
Plonk – A stone that sinks on the first hit of the run.
Skronker – A stone that never hits water or anything.
Agnew – A stone that hits a person.
Chukker – Composite of six-stone set.
