Raise a Glass for a New SYRCL Tradition!
SYRCL’s inaugural fundraising event, ‘Wild for the Yuba; Celebrating Regional Grapes, Hops and Bites,” was a stirring success with over 300 SYRCL and Yuba River supporters sipping fine wine, tasty beer and enjoying elegant organic food by Conscious Catering. Attendees to the April 2nd event at the Grass Valley Veterans Hall were wowed by the energetic dance of Earth Rhythm African Dance Troupe and supported SYRCL’s programs through a live auction that included wonderful travel packages from the Yuba’s source, to the sea.
“There’s always a risk when starting something new,” states Miriam Limov, the coordinator of SYRCL’s RiverPeople program and this event. “We’d had great success with our auction the past 20 years, but we felt that our community was ready for something different. It’s really gratifying to see so much enthusiasm for bringing together regional wineries, small craft brewers, organic food and a party for a purpose. The Yuba River benefits from the generosity of the wineries and breweries that made this event possible.”
SYRCL extends gratitude to everyone who attended and volunteered, and especially acknowledge the breweries and wineries that came from as far as San Diego, the North Coast and the Eastern Sierra to offer everyone interesting tastings of their finest beverages. Rod Byers and Tom McCormick volunteered their time, talents and contacts to assemble such a great line-up of wineries and breweries. If you missed the opportunity to taste for the benefit of SYRCL, check out the participating breweries and wineries below and go out and taste for yourself!!
