Yuba River Salmon Tours — Guide Training Offered
Salmon Tours on the lower Yuba River have provided an experiential education to more than 1000 students in Yuba and Nevada Counties over the last six years. SYRCL will continue these tours in 2011, building on a terrific partnership with Environmental Traveling Companions (ETC), whose volunteer guides are specially trained in providing outdoor adventures to people of all ages and abilities.
ETC is offering River Guide Training on the South Fork American River March 25 – April 3. If you have ever wanted to be a trained river guide, and you are interested in helping SYRCL provide more Salmon Tours to students and the public in the fall, then this is your opportunity. Contact Kaitlyn or Gary and we can arrange for your training and role as a guide.
Salmon tours provide direct interpretation of habitat and restoration projects on the lower Yuba River. Beginning in October, we will again have special weekend tours for adults and families, as well as weekday programs for classes. Tell a teacher that you know to plan now for their fall curriculum, and be sure to plan for your experience with Yuba Salmon. For more information, email us at salmontours@syrcl.org.
