SYRCL Announces the Largest Auction of Nevada County—June 5, 2010

April 23, 2010

Every year in Nevada County many non-profit organizations host fundraising auctions. However, for the last 22 years SYRCL’s auction has consistently stood out from the rest. The South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) announces their largest fundraising effort for the year with 22nd Annual Auction and River Celebration presenting “Las Aguas Vivas del Yuba” on Saturday, June 5, 5-10:30 pm at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City.

Considered one of the largest of Nevada County’s auctions and, this year we’ll be offering something new: a Spanish-themed wine and food pairing pre-event mixer, “Las Aguas Vivas del Yuba” celebrating the Living Waters of the Yuba, from 5-6:30 pm. We’ll be featuring six local wineries pouring 12 of their most appealing wines that will be paired with scrumptious tapas prepared by Jim Eckardt of Club 141 in Grass Valley. Enjoy the time sipping and socializing with friends while listening to live Flamenco guitar of Carlos de la Fuente. The sponsoring wineries will be present to discuss their wines, which includes Coufos, Montoliva, Nevada City Winery, Pilot Peak, Sierra Starr and Solune wineries.

Highlights of silent and live auction include:

  • 7 nights in an Incline Village home with 3 bedrooms 3 baths plus a loft,
  • A retreat to the Yuba River for 4 days 3 nights in a house that sleeps 10,
  • 7 nights accommodations for up to 6 people in Magical Mazatlan,
  • Exquisite wines,
  • 2 nights at a house on Rollins Lake, and
  • Guided fishing trips.

As loyal Auction attendees have come to expect, light fare will be served during the silent auction with dessert during the live auction. The no-host bar will feature the local wines from the pre-event, along with Sierra Nevada beer and non-alcoholic drinks. Dress code ranges from bow-ties to river sandals – come as you are!

Auction item donations are still being accepted for this annual event. All proceeds support SYRCL’s efforts to protect and restore the Yuba River and Greater Yuba River watershed. Your donations are tax-deductible and will be listed on the auction website. We are looking for items that are sustainably and locally produced; vacation rentals,
items that promote sustainable lifestyles (gardening products, green products for your home, recycled products, etc.), practical services, entertainment, dinner parties, art items with values under $200 and anything having to do with food!

To donate or for more information, please contact Miriam Limov (530) 265-5961 ext. 201 or miriam@syrcl.org. Deadline for all donations is May 15.
