Montoliva Estate Sangiovese 2006
In 2000 we became one of only two vineyards in California to plant the new Sangiovese clones introduced by Vivi Cooperativi Rauscedo. 2006 was our second harvest of these exciting grapes. The resulting wine is dark and earthy, with a solid structure and just enough fruit to balance the abundant tannins. Chicago Park’s Italian settlers would be proud of this food-friendly classic.

Montoliva Pinot Grigio 2008
Sourced from Jackrabbit Vineyard, the only organic Pinot Grigio vineyard in Nevada County. These fifteen year old vines produce some exceptional fruit. To give this wine more complexity that is generally found in a Pinot Grigio, we fermented 20% of the lot in neutral oak barrels, then blended back into the 80% that was fermented in stainless steel. Our Pinot Grigio has a complexity, and “gravitas” rarely found in California Pinot Grigios. Lots of melon in the nose, fruity on the palate, and a tight, cleansing acidity.

Pilot Peak 2007 Tempranillo
This full-bodied red wine displays great depth with aromas of hidden black spice, lush cherries and ever so slight undertones of cocoa. 2005 Cabernet Franc
Balance between the various wine components is always a main objective for Solune wines and this release is a particularly successful example of this synergistic vision. Finished in a more traditional Bordeaux style, this wine gives you extra body and crispness and a somewhat deeper color than is typical of this varietal, adding to its flexibility with foods. Beside matching nicely with lamb (with a little bit of fat), it will work well with marbled beef and you can even pair it with meat pizza for a casual meal.
2007 Fleur de Lune
This off-dry blend combines Muscat Blanc (Canelli), Orange Muscat and Gewurztraminer and the touch of sweetness is perfectly balanced by the acidity, providing a refreshing finish. The tug-of-war between these dominant grape varieties results in a tasting equivalent of a M.C. Escher optical illusion, where each variety takes turn in dominating your palate. Quite intriguing and very sensuous! Pairs very well with oriental spicy dishes and tart desserts.

2006 Old Clone Zinfandel
From the oldest Zinfandel vineyard in Nevada County. This 100% Zin boasts red raspberries and spice . Gently aged in French and American oak, the fruit does the talking in this vintage of our main line Zinfandel. Balanced mature tannins and a smooth complex finish make this wine a real charmer.
